Plains View consists of:
Loop A (upper) and Loop B (lower) along a trail connecting Chokecherry Lane and Genesee Trail Road near Arrow Wood Drive. As you head uphill from Chokecherry Lane, you will cross an old asphalt road that belongs to Genesee Water & Sanitation District. This paved road is not part of the Genesee trail system – please stay on the trail by continuing straight ahead.
Loop A then bears off to the left. It is rather steep and rocky, and there is loose gravel in several places, but it offers views of Denver and the Front Range and provides a bench at the top to rest and enjoy the scenery. From an elevation of up to 7960 feet, you can look north towards I-70 or south towards the Genesee Fire Station and the Genesee Foundation community.
Loop B continues downhill through cool stretches of Ponderosa Pine and Douglas Fir as it crosses meadows and drainages.
The Genesee Trails Committee has prioritized work on Plains View in 2021 and you will see erosion control, safety enhancements and other maintenance projects this summer.
Safety Reminder:
