How to Get Emergency Information

If you feel that you are in an emergency right now

DO NOT CALL THE GENESEE FOUNDATION OFFICE.

The office does not receive information from local emergency organizations in an emergency and may have already been evacuated when you try to call.

CALL 9-1-1.

DO NOT CALL THE GENESEE FIRE RESCUE STATION MAIN NUMBER.

Firefighters may all be out on call responding to the emergency and the number may not be answered. Check the Twitter feeds, blogs, or call the Fire Information Hotline, at 303-271-8200.

How to get emergency information at a glance:
Sign up for LookoutAlert in advance of an emergency.

LookoutAlert notifies you by phone call and/or text about local emergencies that may affect you directly. When you sign up for LookoutAlert, the site address may reference Smart911. LookoutAlert and Smart911 are part of the same system.

Smart911 provides Emergency Managers with information about your special needs in an emergency and can alert First Responders to help you faster.

NOTE: Genesee Fire Rescue does not automatically get information from Smart911 but they have access to the application and the information therein.

How to Get Information about an On-Going Emergency

You MUST sign up in advance of the emergency to receive notifications from your local sheriff’s department or fire department.

In an emergency evacuation situation, there will be a lag between when on-the-ground responders determine the need for an evacuation and when the evacuation order is given. You DO NOT have to wait for an evacuation order to leave. When in doubt, get out.

You can find emergency information from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s department at:

Fire Information Hotline: 303-271-8200

NOTE: The Genesee Fire Protection District website (geneseefpd.colorado.gov) DOES NOT provide any information about ongoing emergencies.
