Features of Genesee

Genesee is in unincorporated Jefferson County and is served by the Jefferson County school district. It is efficiently run by an elected Board of Directors and numerous standing and special committees. A simple quarterly fee pays for all of Genesee services and amenities.


Genesee has its own on-site management staff, full-time maintenance team, security patrol by off-duty JeffCo sheriff deputies (who also provide free “vacation checks” of a resident’s home while they’re away), weekly trash and recycling pickup and snow plowing of the private drives. Genesee has a new state-of-the-art water treatment facility, large reservoir and volunteer fire station on site. All utilities, including cable, are buried to preserve the natural appearance.


Genesee has three clubhouses that include two adult pools and one tot pool, a well-equipped fitness center, tennis and pickleball courts, well-stocked library, meeting rooms and a new kitchen facility. There are 12 miles of hiking trails that wind through our Open Space and numerous community social groups and clubs that include hiking, skiing, biking, several book clubs, gourmet, theater, music “jam” groups, poker, quilting, a popular swim team and many others. Genesee also hosts numerous events such as summertime outdoor concerts, a July 4th parade and BBQ, year-round First Friday get-togethers, and family-friendly parties and activities.


Suzy Barr

General Manager

Suzy is our full-time, onsite licensed Community Manager. She runs the day-to-day operations of the Genesee Foundation and manages the seven full-time staff. Her duties also include creating and managing the operational budget, assistance in covenant enforcement, handling all HR, accounts payable and receivables and collections. She works closely with the Board and all Genesee committees to carry out action items.

Brian Maillet

Open space Manager

Brian is our full-time, onsite Forester and Open Space Manager who implements and oversees forest health and weed management programs. He creates and administers community-wide fire mitigation projects and grants and assists homeowners in obtaining grant funding for private property defensible space projects. He also works closely with the Trails Committee to maintain and improve our extensive trail system.

Molly Kuhn

Web/media coordinator

Molly is our full-time, onsite Media + Web Coordinator. She creates and maintains our website, designs and formats The Genescene (our monthly print magazine), oversees all Foundation communications and creates all community electronic publications.

Emma Chaney

Community Support Administrator

Emma is our full-time, onsite Community Support Administrator. She assists Molly and Karen with communications, resident services, ARC applications and committee projects. In addition, she will most likely be the person to answer your questions via the phone or in the office.

Karen Hagget

ARC Administrator

Karen is our full-time onsite ARC and Covenant Coordinator. She processes all Architectural Review Committee applications and ensures compliance with the ARC standards by working closely with our ARC. In addition, she monitors properties for covenant violations and assists with enforcement.

Jim Andrews

Facilities Manager

Jim, Isaac and Chris are our talented and resourceful full-time onsite maintenance staff. They maintain all Foundation amenities (pools, fitness center, courts), plow private drives in the winter, maintain all mailbox structures, community signs and a variety of other tasks.
