Charity Opportunities this Season

This year, we will not be hosting an in-person charity event, but will be supporting the same two local charities as last year. You may make your donations from the comfort of your home by either making a cash donation online, by purchasing a toy from the Amazon.com wish list or by dropping off a toy in person. The impact your donations made last year was impressive!

BGOLDN serves students just as The Golden Backpack Program did, while continuing to confront food insecurity for people of all ages throughout the community. Nearly 1 in 4 households have experienced food insecurity this year. With the way things are going, Covid-19 could double the number of people experiencing food insecurity in the coming year. Donations will make a direct impact and feed those in need in these trying times.

To donate go to: Bgoldn.org.

The Miracle Shop, a project of the Rotary Club of Golden, will be held on Dec 14-16 at Calvary Church in Golden. This annual holiday popup store allows financially struggling parents the ability to shop for new, quality toys that are sold at garage sale prices to parents or guardians. Each shopper decides what he/she can afford to pay. Over five hundred excited children then can wake up on Christmas, Kwanza or Chanukah to the miracle of gifts provided by loving adults, who themselves receive the gift of a gleeful child and a reinforced sense of community and dignity.

The Miracle Shop has been hugely successful. Their adjusted pricing allows a population of under-served adults to purchase items they normally wouldn’t be able to afford and, more importantly, it creates dignity. There is no handout but, instead, a varied shopping experience.

To make cash donations or to provide a toy or two from their Amazon Wish List, go to themiracleshop.org. Toys can be dropped off at Calvary Church in downtown Golden from 9:30am to 3pm on December 8, 9, 11 or, 13, or you may email them at TheMiracleShop.Golden@gmail.com for a pick-up.
